PIANO LESSONS
- Repertoire – Students explore a variety of styles including Blues, Jazz, Classical, Gospel, Popular, Christian, African, etc., ensuring they gain a breadth of knowledge.
- Musicianship – Piano Technique, Ear-training and Sight-Reading provides students with a solid foundation for independent creative music exploration. These skills supports both Practical performance and Theoretical understanding. Theory is an essential component of well rounded musical training.
- Assessment – Provided by accredited third-party examiners, Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM). Successfully completing exams builds confidence and offers students the opportunity to celebrate achievement. Exam are not compulsory but it is recommended especially for young pianists.
Private Piano Lessons are the best way to improve your piano skills in the shortest period of time. I teach all styles of music, from traditional method series teaching approach to playing by ear and improvisation, through playing classical, pop, rock, jazz, R&B, Christian/Gospel – you name it! Students should have a keyboard/piano at home to practise.

I think one of the best gifts to give your child is the opportunity to learn piano at an early age. This is important especially to parents with musical children as a good piano foundation will help them to easily learn other instrument with ease as they grow up.
Teaching music to young children is a highly specialised field, and it is important to recognise that not all piano teachers are well suited to this. Music Exams

Graded Music Exam courses are available for international certification through ABRSM, a globally renowned exams and assessment body. Though not compulsory but I do encourage students to take music exams, especially young pianists, performing musicians, and those interested in building a music career.
Preparing for taking graded exams encourages learners to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding, something that provides a foundation for future musical learning and activities of all kinds.
Musician Mentorship Program

It takes more than talent to break into the music industry. Today’s musician needs to empower themselves with not only music performance skills but also music business and digital audio production skills. This is the most challenging and diverse program as I go beyond the piano to prepare the student to enter the music industry. The best way is to inquire by email, fill-in the online registration form or call or WhatsApp.
Acoustic Pianos are always best, but a keyboard can suffice for the beginning stages. Contact me if you need to rent a piano or buy one. A good beginner budget for an upright piano is from R10’000 and up.
I believe everyone can play piano with good instruction and proper practice. It’s all about practise not talent.
Akuse Khula Piano Studio is located inside my residence at Rayton, Pretoria East, in a safe environment with gated parking.
This depends on the level and age, and how fast you want to progress. As a general guide:
- 20 – 30 minutes for ages 6 -7
- 30 – 45 minutes for ages 8 – 12
- 45 – 60 minutes for ages 12 to adults
This depends on your goals, level, age, and how fast you want to progress. You are free to request extra sessions to my standard packages.
If they can count and recognise alphabets then they are ready. Usually by age 6 but can be less depending on child’s aptitude.
In general, 30 minutes daily. How good do you want to play? Put in the hours and results are certain. Quality of practise is always more important than hours.
Books and materials are purchased based on each student’s personal needs. You can never need to get any books, I’ll do that for you.
Students are welcome to take exams but it’s not compulsory. I do encourage encourage my students to take exams, it’s a good incentive for all the hardwork done.
My student learn Pop, Jazz, Blues, Marabi, Rock, Gospel, Afro-Styles, Latin, Classical, etc.. If the student loves the music that is all that matters to me. I teach any and all genres of music that a student wants to learn. Some Classical music is generally necessary for a good foundation but you are by no means limited to Classical.
Tuition should be paid in advance of 1 or 2 or 3 month instalments. No weekly payments acceptable. Bank transfer preferred over cash but whichever is easiest for you.
